Senior executive at Rutgers University, serving as Senior Vice Chancellor for Clinical Affairs, Vice President for Health Affairs, and Chief Academic Officer for RWJ Barnabas Health. A Professor of Surgery and former University of Pennsylvania faculty member, he is a nationally recognized leader in health system design, performance improvement, and surgical critical care.

He has advanced mindfulness-based emotional intelligence and consciousness neuroscience within academic medicine—appointing Rutgers’ first Chief Wellbeing Officer and establishing programs that integrate well-being, neuroscience, and leadership.
